This notice applies to VisitVenezia.net under Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR). Contact the controller using the email or postal address above for privacy enquiries.
2. Data, purposes and legal bases
- Website delivery and security: IP address, date and time, requested URL (including search terms in the URL), response status, browser/device information and referring page where provided. Processing supports our legitimate interests in delivering a reliable guide, diagnosing errors and preventing abuse (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Features you request: saved guide identifiers and a motion preference remain in your browser. Technical storage is used only to provide the selected feature; these values are not transmitted to an account or used to build a visitor profile. Where personal data is involved, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing those requested functions.
- Direct correspondence: if you email us, we receive your email address, name if supplied, message and attachments. We use them to respond and handle the matter. The basis is legitimate interest for general enquiries, Article 6(1)(b) for steps you request before a contract or its performance, and Article 6(1)(c) where a legal obligation applies.
- Notice acknowledgement: your browser can remember that you dismissed the technical-storage notice. This is not consent to marketing or analytics.
There are no registration, newsletter, contact form, checkout, advertising, behavioural analytics or social-media embeds on this edition. No automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects or profiling are carried out by this website. AI-assisted editorial drafting does not send visitors’ searches or saved places to an AI provider.
3. Whether data is required
Connection data is necessary to return a web page. Saving places and remembering motion settings are optional; the guide can be read without them. Providing an email address and enough information is necessary if you want a response to an enquiry. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information that is not needed.
4. Retention
Ordinary website access and error logs are rotated daily, keeping up to 14 rotated files in addition to the current file (normally approximately 15 days). Specific records may be retained longer where necessary to investigate a security incident, comply with a legal requirement or establish, exercise or defend legal claims, for the duration of that need.
Saved places and motion preferences remain locally until you remove them or clear website data; they have no automatic expiry. The notice acknowledgement is honoured for six months and is checked for expiry when you next load the website. It may remain physically stored in an unused browser until that visit or manual deletion.
Correspondence is retained for the time needed to answer and resolve the request and any resulting relationship. If a legal retention duty or a dispute applies, relevant records are kept for the applicable statutory period or until the dispute and associated retention need end. This website has no server-side user-profile or saved-places database.
5. Recipients and service providers
Access is limited to authorised personnel and technical service providers as needed to operate the site, maintain security and manage correspondence. The hosting infrastructure is supplied by Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany. Email delivery also involves the email services used by the sender and recipient. Providers acting on our instructions must be subject to applicable data-processing arrangements. Authorities or professional advisers may receive information when required by law or necessary to protect rights. We do not sell visitor data or make it public.
Photographs, fonts, scripts and styles are served from VisitVenezia.net. Opening an external resource contacts that website, which operates under its own notice. No external advertising or analytics service is contacted automatically by the site. Where a service entails a transfer outside the EEA, the applicable GDPR Chapter V conditions must be met, such as an adequacy decision or appropriate contractual safeguards; you may contact us for information on safeguards relevant to your data.
6. Your rights
Subject to the GDPR conditions, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, and portability where applicable. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your particular situation. If processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting prior lawful processing; this edition does not request consent for analytics or advertising.
Send your request to info@doribene.it. We may ask for proportionate information to verify identity and will respond within one month, subject to the extensions allowed by the GDPR. You may lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante) or the supervisory authority where you habitually reside, work or where the alleged infringement occurred.
We cannot identify or retrieve a saved list stored only in your browser. You can manage it on My Venice or clear it through the local-storage controls.
7. Changes and related information
We update this notice when relevant processing changes. See the cookie policy for the current storage inventory and the legal notice for ownership and use of the guide.
Offline app storage
The PWA uses first-party Cache Storage to keep the basic app files and up to 120 recently visited pages and 100 recent assets on this device. This provides the requested offline browsing function, without sending a browsing profile to a separate service. Entries remain until replaced, removed by the browser or cleared. Open “Install app” in the footer to remove downloaded guides and images. To remove all app data, use your browser’s site-data controls; uninstalling the icon may not erase all browser data.
