Spiral Economy

At Museo Correr's Gallerie Canova in Venezia, Spiral Economy stages a dialogue between Franco-Swiss artist Julian Charrière and Antonio Canova. Charrière's geological materials, with their cracks, veins and textures recording ancient seas and metamorphic pressures, meet Canova's idealized marble bodies. The exhibition contrasts marble as human likeness with stone as living body, inviting reflection on attempts to measure or master time and on deeper planetary durations.

The display engages the host space, with the Principe figure greeting visitors at two of four entrances, while ninety images of chosen artists, from Quattrocento masters to the 2000s, form a genealogical tree. Works are suspended and staggered from low walls to maximum height, while a bronze Meteorite and Fratino with Serpenti suggest verticality and horizontality.
